Apple pie without sugar
This sugar-free apple pie is a recipe I like to use when I want to satisfy my sweet tooth, but consciously avoid added sugar. The sweetness of the cake comes solely from the apples and vanilla, which miraculously harmonize, and the apple cake is well suited for young children who should eat sugar-free.
Ingredients
- 4 large apple
- 200 g whole-wheat flour
- 1 baking soda
- 55 g butter
- 120 g Applesauce (necessarily unsweetened)
- 1 Pinch salt
- 1 TL vanilla essence
- 2 medium size Eggs
- 100 g Low fat curd cheese or yogurt
- Cinnamon to taste

Directions
When you prepare the apple pie without sugar recipe, preheat your oven to 180°C and grease a round baking pan. Choose a proportionally fitting mold so that your cake will not be too thin or too thick.
Peel and core the apples. Cut them into thin slices. Here it is recommended to work especially carefully to obtain uniform pieces, as this will affect the baking time and the final result.
In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder and salt. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, applesauce, melted butter and vanilla extract.
Combine the dry and wet ingredients and mix gently with a spoon or spatula until just blended. Do not overmix the batter or the cake will be less fluffy.
Now add the cottage cheese/yogurt and the apple slices. The amount of apples may seem overwhelming, but do not worry, they shrink during baking.
Pour the dough into the prepared mold and sprinkle with cinnamon to taste.
Bake the cake for 50-60 minutes, until golden brown and an inserted toothpick comes out clean. Every oven is different, so check the cake after 45 minutes.
Let the apple cake without sugar cool for at least 15 minutes before serving.
