Chinese Steamed Pork Dumplings Gow Gee
Gow Gee, also known as Chinese Dumplings, is a traditional dish often served during holidays in China. These delightful, bite-sized meals bundle flavorful ingredients together in a tender pasta shell, steamed to perfection. Whether you're preparing for Chinese New Year or merely satisfying a craving, these sumptuous dumplings are always a good choice.
Ingredients
- 200 g of minced pork
- 1 Cup of chopped Chinese cabbage
- 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon of sesame oil
- 1⁄2 Cup of finely chopped green onions
- salt and pepper to taste
- 40 Gow Gee wrappers or Wonton wrappers
- Water for sealing dumplings
- Dipping Sauce: Soy sauce, vinegar sesame oil
- mixed to taste

Directions
Mix the minced pork, chopped cabbage, soy sauce, sesame oil and chopped green onions in a bowl. Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste. Stir the mixture until all ingredients are well combined.
Prepare the Gow Gee wrappers. Place a wrapper on a clean surface or your palm. Place a tablespoon of filling in the centre of the wrapper.
Dip your finger in water and run it over the edge of half the Gow Gee wrapper. This will act as a glue when you fold the wrapper in half.
Fold the wrapper over to encase the filling, pressing the edges together. Ensure the dumpling is properly sealed and there are no air pockets inside. Repeat this process with remaining wrappers and filling.
Steam the dumplings in a bamboo steamer over boiling water for about 20 minutes, until they become translucent.
Serve immediately with your dipping sauce - a mix of soy sauce, vinegar and sesame oil.
