Creamed leek vegetable side dish
"Creamed leek is a lovely and delicious recipe that I have made many times in my family. It offers a creamy texture paired with the unique flavor of leek. It is easy to prepare and makes a great side dish for meat or fish. Thanks to its smooth creaminess and the mild onion notes of the leek, this creamed leek literally melts in the mouth.

Directions
To cook creamed leeks, start by washing the leeks thoroughly. I recommend cutting it in half lengthwise and rinsing it under running water to remove any dirt and sand. Then cut into thin slices.
Melt the butter in a medium saucepan. Make sure that the butter does not burn - a medium heat is ideal.
Add the sliced leek and sauté in the butter until soft and translucent. About 10 minutes. I know from years of experience that this makes a huge difference to the taste.
Pour in the cream and allow the mixture to simmer over a medium heat for 10 minutes or until thickened. Make sure you stir it occasionally to prevent it from burning.
Finally, season to taste with salt, pepper and nutmeg. Don't forget to taste the leek again and again, as the pepper and nutmeg can be very dominant.
Enjoy the creamed leek hot and fresh from the pot. It goes perfectly with many main courses or can simply be enjoyed with crusty bread. Enjoy your meal!
