Directions
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees and grease a baking pan. I always use butter for greasing as it adds an extra flavor that perfectly complements the cake.
Melt the chocolate and butter in a double boiler. Be sure to do it over low heat so that both ingredients keep their flavor and don't burn.
While the chocolate is melting, beat the eggs and sugar until smooth. Experience has taught me that the more you beat, the smoother the cake becomes.
Add the flour and baking powder to the egg and sugar mixture. Stir gently, in a constant direction, this way the cake will have a fluffier texture.
Add the chocolate and melted butter. Grate the orange zest and then squeeze in the orange juice. Add both the orange zest and the juice to the mixture. This will give the cake a nice freshness and balance the chocolate flavor.
Pour the mixture into the pan and bake for approximately 40-50 minutes. Here's a trick: insert a toothpick in the middle of the cake, if it comes out dry, it means your cake is cooked.
Let cool before unmolding and then enjoy this delicious treat!
