The preparation is very simple, you just have to mix the ingredients. It is always recommended to use fresh ingredients.
Ground cinnamon is the base of the gingerbread spice, so I put most of it in the mixture.
Ginger is responsible for the spicy taste. If you're preparing for Christmas, it's a good idea to use fresh ginger for a slightly crunchier result.
Allspice and cloves give the gingerbread a classic festive flavour. However, if you don't like these flavours, you may want to reduce the amount, as they can be strong.
Finally, cardamom is an optional ingredient that makes the blend unique. Although this spice is not common among gingerbread spices, its mild spicy-lemony flavour can make the final cake special.
