Directions
To make the sausage in puff pastry recipe preheat the oven to 200 degrees. From my experience, the right oven temperature is crucial for the perfect rising of the puff pastry.
Roll out the puff pastry and cut it into strips. I recommend making the strips about 2 cm wide - this measurement has proven itself over time.
Wrap each sausage in a strip of puff pastry. Starting at one end of the sausage, roll up the puff pastry stream at an angle. Then the sausages should be completely covered by the dough.
Place the wrapped sausages on a baking sheet. I always use baking paper to make sure they don't stick to the tray.
Beat the egg and whisk it. Carefully brush the sausages with the beaten egg. This gives the puff pastry a nice shine when baking.
If you like, sprinkle some sesame or poppy seeds over the sausages. This gives a great look and adds an extra flavor note.
Bake the sausages in the puff pastry for about 15-20 minutes or until the puff pastry is golden brown and crispy. Watch them closely towards the end of the baking time as each oven is slightly different. Serve the sausages in puff pastry hot from the oven for the party. You can serve them with mustard, ketchup or any other sauce you like.
