Directions

60 min.
1. Step

Wash the potatoes well and cook them in their skins in a pot with water and salt. This helps the potatoes retain their flavor better.

2. Step

Once cooked (approximately 40 minutes), remove them from the heat and let them rest for a while before peeling them. This small pause will allow you to handle the potatoes without burning yourself and will facilitate the task of peeling them.

3. Step

While the potatoes are cooling, heat the milk and butter in a saucepan over low heat. Do not let it boil, it should only be hot enough to melt the butter.

4. Step

Next, peel the potatoes and mash them with a fork or mash them in a potato masher. Either option is valid, but if you like a smoother and more uniform mash, I recommend using the potato masher.

5. Step

Gradually add the hot buttered milk to the potatoes, stirring constantly until the desired texture is obtained. In this step, patience is key to obtain a creamy, lump-free mashed potato.

6. Step

Add salt, pepper and nutmeg to taste, you can taste it and rectify the seasoning if necessary. I recommend being generous with the nutmeg, it really enhances the flavor of the puree.

7. Step

Finally, serve the mashed potatoes sprinkled with grated Parmesan cheese and a little chopped parsley for color and freshness. And that's it! You will have a delicious Christmas mashed potato to accompany your favorite dishes.
