Directions
Start by soaking the flax seeds in water for 1.5 to 2 hours till they gel. Patiently waiting for them to soak ensures the seeds thoroughly absorb the water, which helps in getting the right texture for your crackers.
Preheat your oven to 200 degrees Celsius. As a rule of thumb, always make sure your oven is preheated which guarantees a uniform baking temperature.
Now, mix in the minced garlic, sea salt, black pepper, and oregano (if using) with the gelled flax seeds. Doing this before baking ensures that these flavors are well integrated into the crackers during cooking.
Then, spread the mixture uniformly onto a lined baking tray. Getting an even layer on the tray means your crackers will bake evenly and have consistent texture and crunch throughout.
Bake for about 30 minutes on one side, or until the crackers start to lift slightly off the baking sheet.
Carefully flip the giant cracker over and bake for another 15-20 minutes or until crisp and golden brown. Remember, ovens vary, so keep a close eye on them since they can rapidly go from perfectly done to overcooked.
Allow the large cracker to cool, then break it into smaller, individual crackers. Serve with your choice of toppings and enjoy!
