Apple and walnut cookies

This apple walnut cake is quick and easy to make and always a family favourite. Perfect for dessert or an afternoon snack, and great with hot tea or coffee.

1. Step

To start with, it is always important to have the ingredients ready. This makes it easier to follow the preparation process. Take it step by step.

2. Step

Mix the flour with the sugar and baking powder. Gently break the eggs into the mixture, taking care not to drop any bits of shell in. Goodbye, annoying splinters in your cake!

3. Step

Add the milk and mix until you have a smooth, sticky dough. Now it's time to chop the walnuts and add them to the dough. Peel and dice the apples and add them to the dough. A bit of messiness is allowed here - it makes for great flavours!

Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for 25 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown. Be careful, every oven bakes differently! Try the toothpick trick: if you prick the dough and no sticky dough remains, your cake is done.

5. Step

Let cool before decorating. Fortunately, apple-nut cake is wonderful on its own, so all you need to decorate it is a sprinkling of icing sugar. During infusion time, make a cup of hot drink. That way, your cake will harmonise perfectly with the drink.
