Pick the berries.

Place them in a saucepan and add the lemon juice. Cook over medium heat for about 15 minutes until the berries start to release their juice.

Now add the sugar and cook on a low heat for another 40 minutes. This is the critical point when we have to be careful not to burn the jam. I recommend stirring every few minutes.

Test the thickness of the jam by ensuring that it thickens quickly on a cold plate.

Fill the jars to the brim, close and turn upside down. Leave the jam to cool. Turning the jars over will create a vacuum, which helps the jam to last longer.
