Canned Tomato Sauce
This tomato sauce is ideal for winter months when fresh tomatoes are not available. Moreover, this is a great way to utilize the surplus of tomatoes from the summer harvest.
Ingredients
- 3 kg tomatoes
- 2 pcs onion
- 4 cloves garlic
- 3 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 pcs Red pepper
- 1⁄2 l vinegar

Directions
Clean and chop the vegetables. Cut the tomatoes and red pepper into small pieces, the onions and garlic finely.
In a pot, sauté the onions and garlic until translucent, add tomatoes, bell pepper, sugar, and salt. Cook over medium heat for about 1 hour.
After an hour, add vinegar and let it boil for another 30 minutes.
Blend the finished sauce with a hand blender and while still hot, fill it into sterilized jars. Close and let it cool.
Check the tightness of the lids on the jars before you store them in a dark and cool place.
Sterilize the sauce in a water bath for greater safety and durability.
