Directions
To prepare cordon bleu, first preheat the oven to 200 degrees. Then lightly brush a baking tray with olive oil to give the cordon bleu a slightly crispy finish.
Cut into the sides of the chicken breast fillets to create a kind of pocket, but make sure that the other side is not cut through. This makes stuffing the fillets much easier.
Stuff the chicken breast \pockets\ with the ham and cheese. Then close the opening with toothpicks so that the filling does not fall out during baking.
Dredge the stuffed chicken breasts first in flour, then in beaten egg and finally in breadcrumbs. Make sure they are completely covered.
Place the chicken breasts on the prepared baking tray and drizzle with olive oil. This will give them a nice golden brown color and enhance their crispy exterior.
Bake the cordon bleu in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes until the chicken is cooked through and the breading is golden brown.
Finished cordon bleu should be drained briefly on kitchen paper to remove excess oil, which makes it much more enjoyable! Enjoy your meal!
