Easy Traditional British Cottage Pie Recipe

Ingredients
- 11⁄2 Pounds ground beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 carrots, peeled and diced
- 1 Cup frozen peas
- 2 tbls tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- salt and pepper to taste
- 4 mashed potatoes
- 1⁄4 Cup grated cheddar (optional)
- Fresh parsley, for garnish

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a pot, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.
Add the onion, carrots, and garlic. Sauté until the vegetables are slightly softened.
Stir in the frozen peas, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, dried thyme, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 2-3 minutes.
Transfer the beef and vegetable mixture to a baking dish and spread it evenly.
Spoon the mashed potatoes over the beef mixture, smoothing the top with a spatula. If desired, sprinkle grated cheddar cheese over the mashed potatoes for an extra cheesy layer.
Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes, or until the filling is bubbling.
Once done, remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
