Homemade Swedish Meatballs with Sauce
These delicious Swedish meatballs are a classic comfort food that is easy to make and perfect for a cozy winter dinner.
Ingredients
For the meatballs:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 lb ground pork
- 1⁄2 onion
- 1 egg
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1⁄4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1⁄4 teaspoon allspice
For the gravy:
- 2 tbls butter
- 2 tbls all-purpose flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1⁄2 Cup heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- Salt and pepper, to taste
For serving:
- Mashed potatoes or cauliflower rice

Directions
In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, onion, egg, garlic, salt, pepper, nutmeg, and all-spice. Mix well.
Shape the meat mixture into small balls.
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the meatballs to the skillet, and brown on all sides.
Reduce the heat to medium and continue to cook the meatballs until they are cooked through and no longer pink in the center.
Remove the meatballs from the skillet and set aside.
In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk flour in and cook for 1 minute until lightly browned.
Slowly whisk in beef broth, then heavy cream and soy sauce. Continue to cook, whisking constantly.
Season gravy with salt, pepper, and taste.
Return the balls to the skillet with the gravy and simmer for 5-10 minutes, until the meatballs are heated through and the sauce is bubbly.
Serve the Swedish meatballs over a bed of mashed potatoes or cauliflower rice, and enjoy!
