How to cook Simple Garlicky Swiss Chard

- 2 bunches of Swiss chard
- 3 tbls of olive oil
- 4 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1⁄2 teaspoon of red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- Lemon wedges for serving (optional)

Rinse the Swiss chard well to remove any dirt or grit.
Separate the stems from the leaves. Chop the stems and set aside, and roughly chop the leaves.
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once the oil is shimmering, add the garlic and red pepper flakes (if using) and cook until fragrant, which is usually about a minute.
Add the chopped Swiss chard stems to the skillet and sprinkle with salt. Cook until they're starting to soften, about 5 minutes.
Add the Swiss chard leaves to the skillet. Cook until wilted and tender, about 5-10 minutes.
Season with more salt to taste and a generous quantity of black pepper.
Serve warm on its own or with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice.
