Poppy seed cake with crumble
Delicious poppy seed cake with crumble, which goes well with coffee or tea.
Ingredients
For the dough:
- 250 g Smooth flour
- 150 g Semolina sugar
- 1 a piece egg
- 1⁄2 spoons baking powder
- 125 g butter
- pinch of salt
For the filling:
- 200 g ground poppy seeds
- 120 g sugar
- 200 ml milk
- 1 a piece vanilla sugar
For the crumbs:
- 100 g Smooth flour
- 70 g sugar
- 60 g butter

Directions
Start by preparing the dough. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Add the eggs and softened butter and work into a smooth dough. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface and place it in a greased tin.
Let's get the filling ready. Mix the poppy seeds with the sugar and pour in the milk. Add the vanilla sugar and mix. Spread this filling evenly over the dough.
Finally comes the crumble. Mix the flour with the sugar and work in the butter to form a coarse crumble. Sprinkle this over the poppy seed filling.
Bake the cake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 30 minutes, or until golden. Let it cool a little before serving, it is ideally served soft but not hot.
