Directions
To make the sweet puff pastry Christmas trees, first preheat the oven to 200 degrees and line a baking tray with baking paper.
Roll out your puff pastry and cut it lengthwise into 12 strips of the same width. I find that a width of about 2 cm works best for this.
Take two strips and press them together in the middle so that they form a tree. Continue with this method until all your fir trees are ready. Use a wooden skewer to stick the fir tree together.
Then brush each tree with the melted butter. Don't be too sparing here, as the butter gives a nice shine and allows the cinnamon and sugar to adhere better to the puff pastry.
Now mix the brown sugar and cinnamon together and sprinkle the mixture evenly over the fir trees.
Bake the Christmas trees for approx. 10-15 minutes, or until they have risen and are golden brown. Check the oven continuously - puff pastry can burn quickly!
After removing the puff pastry Christmas trees from the oven, leave them to cool slightly and then sprinkle powdered sugar over the trees for a snowy finish. Stick the wooden skewers onto a praline so that the Christmas trees stand upright.
