Easy Creamy Italian Parmigiana Sauce

  • 1 large onion, finely chopped Added to
  • 2 cloves of garlic, finely chopped Added to
  • 1 can of crushed tomatoes Added to
  • A handful of fresh basil leaves, torn Added to

  • 12 Cup of freshly grated Parmesan cheese Added to
  • 14 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional) Added to

1. Step

Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the onion and sauté until it becomes translucent and soft. This should take around 5 minutes.

2. Step

Add the garlic and continue to sauté for another minute until the garlic is fragrant.

3. Step

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, red pepper flakes (if using), and basil leaves. Season with salt and pepper.

4. Step

Reduce heat to low, cover the pan and let it simmer gently for about 20 minutes.

5. Step

Don't forget to stir occasionally and make sure the sauce doesn't stick at the bottom of the pan.

6. Step

After 20 minutes, remove the pan from heat. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until it's fully incorporated into the sauce.

7. Step

Your Parmigiana Sauce is ready to serve hot with your favorite dishes.
