Directions
Begin by washing all your vegetables thoroughly. I find it best to soak the lettuce in water for a few minutes to ensure it's truly clean before drying it with a salad spinner or a clean kitchen towel. Divide the romaine lettuce evenly among four plates.
Next, add the diced tomatoes, cucumber, and red onions on top of the lettuce. I particularly love the crunch of fresh cucumber against the tender lettuce, and the punch that the onions add. But remember, the slices of onion shouldn't be too thick, a thin slice is just enough to add a hint of flavor without overwhelming the other ingredients.
Sprinkle the Kalamata olives over the salad, taking care to distribute them evenly. Their unique, tangy taste is one of the key elements of this salad.
Now, it’s time for the crumbled feta. Don’t hesitate to be generous with the cheese- it brings a rich, creamy element that beautifully balances out the crispness of the vegetables and the acidity of the olives.
In a small bowl, combine the olive oil, lemon juice, salt, pepper, and dried oregano. Mixing the dressing separately ensures that the flavors meld together perfectly before adding it to the salad. Drizzle this dressing over the salads.
And voila! Your Mediterranean Salad is ready to be devoured. Enjoy this light but satisfying meal. I assure you, once you've tried it, it'll become a staple in your kitchen just like it has in mine.
Remember, the beauty of this salad lies in its freshness. The ingredients are simple but full of flavor, creating a harmonious balance that's sure to impress. I hope you enjoy making and eating this salad as much as I do. Happy cooking!
