Simple Red Wine Sauce
An aromatic, deep red sauce that goes perfectly with various meat dishes. This red wine sauce will surely take your guests' breath away.
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely diced
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 500 ml red wine
- 500 ml beef broth
- 2 Bunch thyme
- 1 List Laurel
- 1 Pinch salt
- 1 Pinch pepper

Directions
To prepare the red wine sauce, heat the olive oil in a deep pan or medium-sized pot over medium heat.
Add the onion and cook for about 5 minutes until they are soft and start to brown.
Add the tomato paste and cook it for another 2 minutes.
Pour the wine in and bring it to a boil. Reduce the heat and let the wine simmer for about 10 minutes, until it is reduced by half.
Add the broth, thyme, bay leaf, salt and pepper. Let the sauce simmer for 15 minutes.
Remove the thyme and bay leaf. Use a hand blender or a sieve to puree and smooth the sauce.
If necessary, continue to reduce the red wine sauce until it reaches the desired consistency. Taste and adjust the seasoning with additional salt and pepper if needed. This sauce can be served with any dish, but the red wine sauce goes best with meat like steak.
